On the basis of National Key R&D Programmes, the Jiangsu Provincial S&T Department has launched three Provincial-level Key R&D Programmes, supporting R&D in the areas of modern agriculture, social development, and key industrial prospective technologies.
Specifically, the Programme in Modern Agriculture supports the application of high-tech technologies such as biotechnologies, ICT, and green manufacturing technologies, into agriculture.
The programme follows the development priorities and objectives outlined in the Jiangsu Provincial 13th Five-year Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation.

Requirements
- Enterprise, university, or research structure with independent legal personality within Jiangsu province;
- Proposed project should be in line with the specific research topics indicated in the annual call;
- The applicant should possess very strong capacities and conditions for innovation, should possess the IPR of the key technology/product on which the proposed project focuses;
- Applications are encouraged from: leading innovative enterprises, high- and new-technology enterprises, agricultural S&T enterprises, and high-level talents, especially if members of national or provincial agricultural industry alliances/associations, or if located within national or provincial agricultural S&T parks
- Proposals involving certain resources (e.g. genetic resources, animal experiments, clinical trials, etc) should abide by relevant national laws and regulations;
- Limits on the total number of provincial- or national-level programmes that can be implemented at the same time

Applicants must receive official endorsement from the municipal-level S&T bureaus or high-tech zones where they are registered (there are limits on the maximum number of applications that can be endorsed by each jurisdiction every year). Online applications are submitted through the Jiangsu S&T Project Management Platform (an official account should be created on the system in order to submit applications). Hard copy versions of the application materials should also be submitted.
